Community Organizations Receive Support
Organizations gain access to structured assessments, recommendations, and resources that may otherwise be difficult to obtain.
Community organizations play a critical role in our society. Every day, nonprofits, schools, workforce programs, and community institutions manage sensitive information such as client records, student information, financial data, health-related information, staff and volunteer records, and donor information.
Yet most organizations were never designed to handle today's technology, cybersecurity, privacy, and AI risks. Technology threats are growing. Resources are not.
Free Tool for Your Organization
Not sure where your organization stands on cybersecurity risk? Try our free AI-driven risk assessment — no signup required. It takes about 5 minutes and gives you an instant snapshot of your risk posture.
Take the Free Risk Assessment →Many community organizations operate with limited technology budgets, small administrative teams, no dedicated cybersecurity expertise, limited access to AI governance guidance, and growing compliance and privacy responsibilities. As a result, important risks often go unaddressed — not because organizations don't care, but because they lack the time, funding, and specialized resources needed to address them.
Small organizations are more than twice as likely as large ones to report insufficient cyber resilience, and 41% of organizations hit by a material cyber incident say a third party caused it. Source: World Economic Forum with Accenture, Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2024.
TechStep Foundation supports community organizations through a supervised technology and risk clinic. Working under the guidance of experienced industry practitioners, TechStep participants assist organizations in identifying risks, strengthening controls, and building practical governance practices. Projects may include cybersecurity assessments, data governance reviews, AI readiness assessments, privacy and compliance support, risk management recommendations, technology policy development, and digital safety awareness initiatives.
Every Engagement Is Supervised — All projects are reviewed and overseen by experienced practitioners who provide guidance, quality review, and professional accountability throughout the engagement.

TechStep combines people, process, and technology to support community organizations. Through the TechStep Clinic, the Stepping Stone platform, and our free AI risk assessment tool, we provide a structured environment for project delivery, oversight, collaboration, and impact tracking. Organizations benefit from a guided process without the cost and complexity typically associated with consulting engagements.
How a Request Gets Staffed — An organization requests clinic services through TechStep's case management platform. TechStep then assembles a supervised engagement team consisting of program participants working under the guidance of experienced practitioners and TechStep leadership. This is how the $0 cost to community partners stays true: the platform, including its compute and storage costs, is funded by TechStep rather than billed back to the partner.
